About us
In the beginning, Springfield Missionary Baptist Church was established around the year 1875 by a group of grandchildren of slaves in Belton now called Lula, GA. At that time church meetings were held at the home of Mr. Lee Bryson until an old gin building located near the corner of Hammett and Belton Bridge Road was obtained for church services. Years later land was purchased on the corner of Hammett and 8th Street and this is the present location where our church is located today. Many preachers have pastored here over the years including Rev. I.J. Watson, Rev. Richard B Haynes, Rev. L.D. Sims and our current Pastor Rev. Arthur W. Jones just to name a few.
Many renovations have been made to church over the 147 years of existence including a fellowship hall, baptism pool, buisness office, pastor study, new restrooms that are handicap accesbile, a paved parking lot, padded pews and carpet just to name a few.
Over the years, many members have joined the Springfield church family and with new members added, many new ministries also have been added to the church to help teach, aid, and minister the holy word of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Here at Springfield, everyone is important and plays a pivotal role in the body of Christ. This is a place of togetherness in Jesus Christ. One Lord, one faith, and one baptism. If you are in the area of Lula, Ga and looking for a great worship experience thats filled with love, peace, joy and the Holy Spirit, we welcome you to come and join us on Wednesday’s at 6pm for bible study, Sunday morning at 9:45am for Sunday School and 11am for morning church worship.
